COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
When aligning the C1/C2 vertebrae, it is called a toggle adjustment. By realigning your Atlas/Axis (also referred to C1&C2) it can dramatically improve nervous system function. This is due to the fact that your brainstem runs directly through these two vertebrae. When the Atlas/Axis are out of alignment it can create direct pressure on the brain, which can compromise proper nervous system function. By setting these vertebrae back in proper alignment we can expect to see basic nervous system function restored.
Following your exam appointment with the Doctor you will schedule a Report of Findings appointment. At this time the Doctor will review the finding from your exam and give you a copy of that full exam. This will outline each specific muscle group, as well as the number of muscles that are inhibited. After discussing with the Doctor your treatment plan, the staff will help you to set up a series of appointments to get you on the road to balance and wellness.
There are many things that can aid in shutting a muscle down. Simply being active and doing the many day-to-day activities put stresses on your body and can create imbalances. Strenuous activity, athletics, daily recreation, and nutritional habits are all examples of things that can contribute to muscles becoming inhibited.
Every patient is unique and individual. We see patients with as little as 10-15 muscles shut down and some with 70-80 muscles that are shut down. Our goal no matter where you fall in this category is to get you back balanced, well, and able to achieve your goals of being active and pain-free.
In activating a muscle the Doctor must stimulate 7 reflux points using his hands. There is one neurovascular point, one neurolymphatic point, two organ reflex points, an acupressure point, and the origin an insertion of the muscle itself. After stimulating these points together, the Doctor will retest the muscle to determine that the muscle has become strong.
The treatment process can go as fast or as slow as each individual patient desires. This may be determined by your time and finances. Because the Doctors schedules tend to fill up fast, it is best to schedule a few weeks out to ensure you get the times you need. Each muscle is $55 to get activated, the Doctors do recommend to do an even amount of muscles per session to help keep you balanced. We are able to do up to 6 muscles in a session.
It takes the Doctor 10 minutes to reactivate 1 muscle. The Doctor has trained assistants to help in this process. If an assistant is with the Doctor, it is possible to activate 2 muscles in just 10 minutes.
Once a treatment begins the body recognizes that someone is paying attention and start to go into a “show & tell” mode. You may come in one day with a shoulder pain, the doctor will fix that and the next time you come in it may be your knee that is giving you trouble. It is possible to find relief with a single appointment, although keep in mind that the body will continue to display the next level of imbalances. This treatment is a process and is based on wellness and care.
Unless there is an injury or accident that occurs a muscle, once activated, should not need to be reactivated. Occasionally the Doctor will find a muscle that has already been treated not holding. If this occurs the Doctor will look at the organ or gland in the body associated with that muscle and deliver nutrient or supplemental support. In doing this we should see immediate results showing that the muscle is again strong.
Pain is your body’s way of alerting you of what it needs. As we listen to the body and work through the AMIT treatment you will find yourself with more stability and strength. This will increase your range of motion and your ability to do more. As we move through treatment you will find one area’s pain lessen, while another area may present Pin to tell us where to treat next. Once the body is balanced, your desired level of functionality will quickly become your next pain-free state.
Through a process of muscle testing, the body will display its strengths and weaknesses. Each visit the Doctor will muscle test the patient asking the body which muscle is a priority to treat, if it is not a priority the muscle is not ready to be treated and we move to another area that is ready to be treated.
The body breaks down in certain sequence, the Doctor does not know and the patient most often can’t remember the exact order. The body guides the process of treatment. Often an arm or hand issue can be coming from the neck. It is common to have knee or foot pain coming from the low back. It is important that we treat in a way that creates a strong foundation of healing for the body to restore itself to proper function once again.
Once the Doctor has cleared all of the muscles he found to be shut down during your initial exam, he will perform a re-exam to make sure the muscles have held and there are no other areas that are imbalanced. After all muscle work is complete, and the re-exam shows you clear, you will be on wellness care. Patients on wellness usually come 4-8 weeks apart for regular chiropractic adjustments.
